Up for sale is a rare watch, an 18k white gold Audemars Piguet ultra thin "disco volante." The movement number on this watch dates it to 1962. I've included a photo of advertising for the watch from the same year, showing a retail price of $920--more expensive than a solid gold Patek calatrava at the time. "Ultra thin" is a complication in itself, and this watch measures in at 4mm thick (yes, four). That is made possible by its Audemars Piguet/LeCoultre caliber 2003 manual wind movement, which itself is incredibly less than 2mm thick. Its diameter is 31mm, and it has 18mm lugs. For reference, my wrist in the photographs is about 6.75". The case is made of 18k white gold, and it is in good shape. The dial has developed a warm parchment patina, with a few light spots visible at different angles. The watch just arrived back from a fresh full service and is running very well. This is a rare watch, and examples generally are not readily available. The closest comparable AP disco volante is currently listed on Chrono24 for more than $7000. Based on the comps, I believe I have priced this very reasonably. This watch will come on a leather strap.
