Naos

The Sternglas Naos takes the familiar Bauhaus vocabulary—fine hour markers, restrained typography, plenty of open dial—and gives it an everyday practicality that enthusiasts can appreciate. The date at six keeps the layout balanced, while the domed sapphire crystal adds a little softness to an otherwise very precise design.

The important choice is between the Naos Quartz and Naos Automatik, rather than simply between dial colors. The quartz version is the thinner, quieter expression of the design; it makes particular sense if what draws you here is that clean dial and an unobtrusive fit under a cuff. The automatic adds mechanical interest and a display back, but also noticeably more case depth. Don’t assume they wear alike: that difference matters more on the wrist than their shared styling suggests.
