Chronoris

The Oris Chronoris draws from the brand's motorsport heritage, first introduced in 1970 as a racing-inspired chronograph. Today’s 39mm reissue channels that vintage spirit with a streamlined, cushion-shaped case and a distinctive inner rotating bezel for timing laps—an uncommon feature that sets it apart in the Oris lineup and appeals to collectors seeking a blend of retro flair and daily practicality.

Key reference numbers include the 733 7737 4053 (with its signature orange accents and date window at 3), and the 733 7737 4034 (notable for its gray dial variant). Both are powered by the reliable Oris Calibre 733 automatic movement, offering 38 hours of power reserve and a practical 100m water resistance—making the Chronoris as suitable for everyday wear as it is for the display case.

Prices vary depending on dial color, bracelet or strap configuration, and overall condition, with full box and papers commanding a premium. The Chronoris’s value is enhanced by its faithful nods to the original, but also by the scarcity of well-preserved examples, especially with the original steel bracelet. When evaluating options, pay attention to the condition of the inner bezel mechanism, as smooth operation is both desirable and indicative of careful ownership.
