M.A.D. 2

The M.A.D. 2 brings a DJ’s turntables to the wrist, with two raised displays for jumping hours and minutes above a record-like dial. Designed by Eric Giroud for M.A.D.Editions, MB&F’s sister project, it takes a different route from the M.A.D. 1: you read the time from above, rather than through the side of the case.

Giroud drew on his experiences in Lausanne’s club scene, and the musical references are built into the mechanics, not merely printed on the dial. A dial-side winding rotor supplies the motion around those twin “decks.” The launch Orange and Green versions share the same underlying watch, so color is the meaningful choice between them. When handling one, watch the hour display cross the hour: its instantaneous jump is a small but essential part of the performance.
