Explore Credor

Credor is the quieter corner of Seiko’s watchmaking world, where slim dress watches, openworked movements, and finely worked dials take precedence over tool-watch credentials. Established in Japan in 1974, its name comes from the French “crête d’or,” or crest of gold. Precious metals helped define the early collection, but the workmanship tells you more than the case material.

The Eichi II, introduced in 2014, brings that approach into sharp focus. Its white porcelain dial has hour markers and lettering painted by hand at Seiko’s Micro Artist Studio in Shiojiri. Inside, the hand-wound Spring Drive 7R14 pairs a smoothly sweeping seconds hand with restrained movement finishing; the power-reserve indicator sits on the back, leaving the dial undisturbed.

There is another side to Credor in the Locomotive, designed by Gérald Genta and first released in 1979. Its hexagonal bezel, exposed screws, and integrated bracelet speak a much more architectural language. Beside the porcelain simplicity of the Eichi II, it shows how far Credor can stretch without relying on a single house silhouette.
