Nothing says grail watch like a Polerouter De Luxe in 18K yellow gold, especially if it comes with an exceedingly rare honeycomb bracelet by Jean-Pierre Écoffey (JPE), also in gold. To be honest, I’ve never seen another one, so it’s safe to say they’re as rare as they come. The watch was purchased from the son of the original owner, who brought it to Portugal from Venezuela in the early 1960s. Based on the serial range for reference 10357-1, these were only made between 1959 and 1959. Unfortunately, the serial on the caseback has worn off. Inside the caseback you’ll find a few service markings, showing it was properly taken care of, plus all the Swiss hallmarks these watches should have. Unfortunately, the previous owner doesn’t know when the last service was – but everything works as it should. Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the original UG-signed bracelet. According to the hallmark on the clasp, it was made by Jean-Pierre Écoffey, who also made bracelets for Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe. I’ve also found other UG watches with JPE bracelets, but none with this textured honeycomb pattern. **Condition:** Good, with honest wear throughout. The case and bracelet show usage marks consistent with age. The acrylic crystal also has a few scratches that can easily be removed. Classic Polerouter proportions with those iconic bombe lugs. **Movement**: Universal Genève Cal. 215, automatic microtor with 28 jewels.
