For sale is a very rare *J.Paul Monet* Monnin 844 style quartz chronograph with an ETA 251.262 movement. The model # on the case back is 4.087.0.0.04. I've come across exceedingly few "chronoMonnins" (the 844 case, specifically). The only one from another brand I've seen (with the same case and dive/compass bezel) was a *DPW* Chrono Legend Marina Militare, running an automatic Valjoux 7750. I also once saw another listing for one of these *J.Paul Monet*'s that identified the movement as an ETA 251.262, dating this one to 1988 or sometime thereafter. I measured this one as \~ 41.5mm wide at the bezel (45mm to crown end) × \~ 46.5mm l2l × 12mm thick (flat crystal) × 20mm lug width. The watch is in overall quite good physical condition. All touch points also work well: the unidirectional bezel (with a compass inner bezel and diver outer bezel), the two chronograph pushers, and the screw-down crown. The movement is pretty wild; see [https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-251-262/](https://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-251-262/) * First crown position: Jumping hour hand (and by extension, quasi quick-set date, back and forth) * Second crown position: Minutes hand * Top pusher: Start-stop-start * Bottom pusher: Pause-jump resume (while chrono running) or reset (while chrono stopped, the “all the way around” quartz variety, and super fun to watch the three chrono hands spin around) * Orange center hand: Seconds chrono * White center hand: Minutes chrono (i.e., ticks once a minute while the chrono is running) * 2 subdial: 10th of a second (i.e., jumps to wherever you are within a second when you stop the chrono) * 6 subdial: Running seconds * 10 subdial: Hour chrono (i.e., ticks once per hour while the chrono is running, up to 12) * Date wheel All these movement functions are operating as they should. I had my watchmaker take a look at it and it passed 30m air testing. Said watchmaker changed the case back gasket for me. But otherwise, since it passed, I decided to call it a day without tending to the pusher and crown gaskets. I bought it in 2022 for $880, so listing it for sale for **$900 shipped CONUS**.
