But, it retains its seiko-y charm, with a distinctively non-Sub font on the bezel insert, and a divided trapezoid at 12 which looks like a remix of a willard dial and the traditional triangle that's found on a submariner. This particular watch came to me with a broken 7s36 movement, a well-loved generic strap, and a scratched crytsal. I've solved all of those shortcomings with a value-focused overhaul. The watch has a brand new hardened mineral crystal. This one has a heavier bevel than OEM, and sits just a little bit proud of the bezel. I chose this on purpose to boost the aesthetics just a little bit, and add some vintage charm. Under the hood, the 7s movement was ditched in favor of a brand new NH36. This movement took to regulation very well - I measured it at 3s/day. And the watch is now sitting on a brand new 22mm seiko z22 diver's strap, the same style as the SKX007, which is also correct/original to this model. The case does show some minor wear on the polished sides and underside, but nothing that will distract when it's on the wrist. Bezel action is good, with a nice positive click. Bezel alignment is also good.
