Black and gold is pure sweetness to begin with, now make that matte black with rosy patina gold… YES PLEASE! This is a gorgeous Rolex Datejust, the classic ref 1601 with some special sauce! REFERENCE: 1601 YEAR: 1978 DIAL: Not a 1601 dial that comes up every day, the beautiful matte black! And this is a fantastic example, very clean with beautiful creamy tritium lume on the dial and hands, looks amazing! Light patina on the hands which matches the bezel for an awesome look! CRYSTAL: Plexi crystal has light wear seen at certain angles (can be seen in the wrist shot under strong light, that’s on the crystal, not the dial - will be polished prior to shipping) presents beautifully. CASE: Really nice 36MM stainless steel case with solid 18k yellow gold bezel. The bezel has beautiful patina forming on the gold - it’s rosy and sweet! Of course that can be removed, but I think it gives this such a fantastic look, also a great indicator the bezel hasn’t been polished. Lugs are still thick with good brushing on top. Has wear throughout, mostly seen on the polished sides, also wear between the lugs. MOVEMENT: Being from ‘78 you get hacking seconds! Service history is unknown, but winds and sets nicely and timegrapher numbers are great at 14 seconds per day with an amplitude of 238.
