Dear all.

I am hereby selling an early 50's Omega Seamaster ref. 2493-9.

The 36.5mm "jumbo" case is in quite good condition with no large dings, scratches or so on. It hasn't been overly polished either and presents very honestly. The crown is the correct clover leaf type.

The dial is heavily patinated and the two-tone dial has a, IMO, good-looking marble effect. There is a yellow-brown mark at the logo, as seen on the pictures. The radium at the indices has aged beautifully and the text and minute hashes are all clear. The main hands have aged differently with the hour hand having a very nice patination of the radium, while the minutes hand have deterioated somewhat, some surface rust is apparent. The crystal hasn't got the Omega logo, but has the correct, low profile.

I have just received the watch from a service from my watchmaker, who serviced it and replaced a dial feet screw; I haven't checked accuracy, but I have no reason to believe the watch won't be in good working order and ready for many more years on the wrist.

I am asking €800 for this very wearable vintage Omega, supplied on the strap shown with a generic buckle. Tracked shipping included. Payment via bank transfer/transferwise heavily preferred. The watch and I are located in Denmark, EU. I will be happy to take returns within a week of delivery, should it dissapoint.

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
