Up for sale today is a Rolex Datejust ref 1601 from 1972 in strong condition. I’m a big fan of this reference - classic proportions, solid movement, and versatile with dressy or casual straps. This example is a bit special for three reasons - a flawless silver pie-pan dial, lume plots are all present and have turned a creamy shade that perfectly match the hands, and black hour markers that contrast nicely with the silver dial. While I do not know the service history, it keeps good time to +/- 8 seconds/day (YMMV) and holds a strong power reserve. Date changes crisply around 5 minutes before midnight.
