Seiko 5619A caliber True GMT with totally independent GMT function. July 1973. The 5619A is the GMT build-out of the 56XX LM, KS and GS Series base calibers and ticks at 21,600 bph. Features hand wind as well as automatic, movement hacks, date and GMT are both quickset (more on that later). I bought this from a collector who had purchase it fully restored from Hub City Vintage. I wore this watch all over Europe for 2 weeks but travel no longer takes me out of the USA so I figure it is good to move it on to someone new.
Dial is immaculate, inner chapter ring is perfect and perfectly aligned, and the hand set is perfect too.
NOS vintage acrylic crystal with date magnifier window installed. NOS never mounted Seiko 300T24ANS included in case you want to go stock with the crystal. but I think the magnifier window really is a lot better looking and useful.
Case size is 37 mm in diameter see photo. Case is in good shape, no major nicks or dings, OEM crown. Gentle restoration of the top brush with original polished sides. Case back is original and screws in perfectly. Bracelet is not proper to the reference but looks fantastic and accommodates up to approx. a 7 inch wrist. Clasp is marked Seiko Actus5 and carries the Stelux clasp branding.
The movement runs like a champ, see TimeGrapher photos showing 2 positions. It keeps absolutely great time on and off the wrist. note the date changes when the hour hand crosses 11 pm I decided to leave it this way rather than fool with it and potentially do some harm.
About the 5619 and how to use the Quick Set date and more importantly the GMT hand which is independent of the hour hand.
It is hard to find a 5619 where all the functions still work. This one does ! That is because it has been treated properly over the years.
Be careful to only quick set change the GMT hand and also the date when the regular hour hand is in the southern hemisphere of the dial, especially between 4 and 8 o'clock.
This ensures that the date train is disengaged while setting it. The gear that controls the quickset date and the GMT hand setting is plastic and proven fragile.
This is one of the relatively few remaining examples where these quick set functions are still operable.
You should continue to be able to use them for years to come as long as you follow this procedure and treat the movement gently during quick set operations.
Price is $250 shipped CONUS add $15 outside USA with tracking.

I had purchased NOS Seiko hour, minute and proper orange/red GMT hand and an NOS never-mounted 300T24ANS crystal figuring I might get another one of these in blue, but that never happened. So I include them in this sale although the watch itself does not need these parts as it looks amazing as it is now.
