There is something amazing about a watch that has stood the test of time. This 1977 Seiko Chronograph has been painstakingly preserved to the best of our ability. It’s original owner loved it so much, his name and telephone number are engraved on the caseback.

The 6139-6002 is one of the most popular Seiko Chrono variants, for good reason, I feel that the case size, shape, and overall weight is perfect compared to the other references.

This 6139 remains original, albeit it’s NOS hardlex crystal (no cheap aftermarket acrylic here!) and a NOS Seiko sub seconds hand, the original was too far gone for us to save.

The case shows wear but only minimally, and though we did not polish it, I can’t confirm that it hasn’t received polishing in its 42 years of existence. The lugs are fat, and not unevenly worn, you can decide.

The outer bezel shows some fading, a few knicks and marks, but that is all character. The inner bezel is beautifully faded to a light gray.

The dial shows some fading and imperfections, all of which make this piece very unique.

She’s been freshly serviced, and any replacement parts used came from my stock of NOS Seiko parts.

This is a 6139 to be proud of, and one that will certainly last another lifetime.
