A bit about this watch and the homage it pays to the Rolex 5117.

Steinhart is a German company who has their watches built in a Swiss factory. They tend to do homages on classic styles, especially Rolex. Though, they do design some of their own styles which are pretty compelling.

In the spirit of the homage, this Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military watch compliments the spirit of the very rare Rolex 5517.

The Rolex 5517 military history. (From Vintage DB dot com) :
Throughout the 1970s, military specification Rolex Submariners (often referred to as ‘milsubs’ by collectors) were delivered to the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) by the Rolex Watch Company and made available to both the UKSF Special Boat Service (SBS) and Special Air Service(SAS) divers.

Here is my review of this Steinhart Vintage Military watch I did on Nov 24th 2018:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O2A...ature=youtu.be

My Vintage Military is in brand new condition. The reason why is because:

1. I didn’t wear the bracelet. I used a strap when in use.
2. I have a lot of watches so this diver didn’t see too much wrist time.

Things I love about this which watch:

1. It has an ETA 2824-2 Elaboré movement for under $400 which is pretty amazing.
2. The bezel has fantastic action, the best I have ever had… spot on.
3. I like this Version 2 (now discontinued) grey face and Old Radium-Super Luminova.
4. 42mm size…. Great size for my just under 7inch wrist.
5. It has a nice sword style handset, where the second & minute hands go all the way to the perimeter of the dial. I notice lot's of watches with short handsets, my pet peeve.
6. Accuracy. Today I checked the 24 hour difference, and there was none. I typically see it run a few seconds fast a day, but well within th elimits for the ETA 2824-2 Elaboré movement.

Here are some additional specs:

Movement

ETA2824-2 Elaboré

Swiss Made
Automatic
25 Jewels
Second stop (hack)

Note on the Crown function:

1. Unscrew the crown and it will pop out to the 1st position. At this position, it can be hand-wound.

2. Pull the crown out to position 2, nothing happens visually, this is because Steinhart is using this 2824-2 Elaboré movement and disabled the date complication, because it is not visually shown/used on the face, due to being a pretty exact homage to the Rolex 5517. This is proper behavior.

3. Pull the crown out to position 3, the second-hand hacks (stops) and the time (minute & hour hands) can be adjusted.
