Hey WatchEx! For sale is this vintage Technos '70s-Style Chronograph. Technos was founded in Switzerland by Joseph Gunzinger and was trademarked in 1924 by his son when he took over the company. During the quartz crisis, like many Swiss brands, Technos found themselves in financial trouble and in 1970 the company was sold to General Watch Co. who transferred Technos to a new premises where they also integrated Certina in 1980. Japan was one of Technos' largest markets so in 1982 it was sold to its long-time Japanese importer, Heiwado & Co. This watch, reference number TGM690, was produced during Heiwado & Co ownership and made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. Judging by the case back design, it points to a '90s release before the company and all its rights were sold again in 2002 to Technos Relógios S.A. who represented Technos watches since 1956 in Brazil, where Technos now thrives. The design looks like it was inspired by their own genuine Swiss-made 1970s chronograph ref.10767 and other '70s space-age chronographs. The dial has a retro, checkered minute track, evocative of racing. The monochrome hands are very much in the Seiko style from the mid '70s like the 6138-0020 or the 6139-7080. The orange chronograph hands pop nicely as the accent. The internal bezel is raised from the dial while the subdials have concentric circle texturing. The subdial on the right is a 24h dial.  Due to the 40mm diameter, the stainless steel case has a lot of presence without being overbearing. I have a relatively small wrist at 6 inches as reference. The case features radial brushing and high-polish pushers and crown. The single domed crystal gives some nice vintage distortions at extreme angles.  It houses the SII (Seiko) calibre VD54B movement that feels good when setting the time. All the time keeping and chronograph functions are working with no issues.  The original stainless steel presidential-style bracelet has solid links and a secure double locking clasp that can accommodate up to roughly a 17.5cm wrist.  The condition is great with minor general wear. Brand new battery installed.
