For sale is an honest and well-preserved 1973 Omega Constellation reference 168.0056. This is one of the later C-Case Constellations, featuring a gold-capped case with a solid gold bezel and observatory medallion on the back. These design details give the watch both a subtle dress presence and the everyday practicality that the Constellation line was known for.

The watch is powered by the Omega Cal. 1011 chronometer-rated automatic movement, which was freshly serviced in July 2025 by my watchmaker. It is running reliably within specification and should be good to go for years before its next service.

Condition:
Dial: Original dial in excellent condition with correct set of baton hands.
Case: 34.5mm gold-capped case with solid gold bezel and observatory medallion. Some light wear as expected, but overall sharp with good lines.
Crystal: Unsigned original Omega crystal, free from scratches.
Crown: Original signed crown, functions correctly.
Movement: Omega Cal. 1011, chronometer-rated with quickset date. Freshly serviced in July 2025, currently running within spec.

Founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1848 by 23-year-old Louis Brandt who assembled key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen. He travelled throughout Europe selling his watches from Italy to Scandinavia by way of England, his chief market. After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons Louis-Paul and Cesar, troubled by irregular deliveries of questionable quality, abandoned the unsatisfactory assembly workshop system in favour of in-house manufacturing and total production control. Due to the greater supply of manpower, communications and energy in Bienne, the enterprise moved into a small factory in January 1880, then bought the entire building in December. Two years later the company moved into a converted spinning-factory in the Gurzelen district of Bienne, where headquarters are still situated today. Their first series-produced calibres, Labrador and Gurzelen, as well as, the famous Omega calibre of 1894, would ensure the brand's marketing success.
