Hello WatchEx! Here we have a Grand Seiko 4522-8000 manual wind hi-beat. Why buy the reissue SLGW005 for 10x as much when you could have the better-proportioned (in my estimation at least) original?! This 36000 bph movement is the pinnacle of 1960s/70s mechanical watch excellence, and is widely considered to be one of the finest movements Seiko has ever made. This particular example is freshly serviced, has some interesting patina on the dial, and would make an excellent daily wearer for formal or casual situations. The pictured strap looks a little funny for a reason—read below for more details! -Movement: 4522 movement is running excellently, see pic 8 for timegrapher results. Will be right around 0 spd on average, plus or minus a few seconds depending on your wear patterns. -Dial: it isn't perfect, and has some pinkish patina, but no delamination or deterioration I can see. The patina is under the dial lacquer and the applied markers and GS logo is crisp and shiny -Crystal: original acrylic crystal is freshly polywatch-ed and looks great, has that lovely warm feel you only get with acrylic -Caseback: Serial number dates this to January 1969, the medallion has some wear/chipping in the upper left corner. As a bonus, the price includes a brand-new display caseback so you can wear it as much as it deserves and admire the beautiful movement. -Case: Not sure if this has been polished or not, but the case lines look sharp and the brushing between the lugs is well-defined. There are some marks from wear but nothing notable. -Strap: Ok so I thought we could have some fun with this one. I made the pictured rolled-edge strap for this one out of Horween Dublin leather, and was trying to decide which color thread to use, but then I thought—why not let the future owner pick? Picture 9 shows this watch on straps made form the same leather with pink and red stitching as an example, and the color options to pick from are below. Looking for $800 including insured US shipping, happy to quote out international shipping for non-US buyers. Open to offers, don't be shy! Probably less interested in trades but feel free to make a pitch, the worst I can say is no.
