First owner financed the watch in 1971. In 1980 the bracelet end-link failed while he was speeding in his Pontiac GTO; the watch hit the highway, was recovered, and sat in a drawer for decades. Case was later restored; dial and hands left untouched. * **Ref. / Serial:** 1680, 2.82 M (1971) * **Movement:** Rolex cal. 1570 date. Keeps time on wrist but stops occasionally / needs a shake; I was quoted a straightforward regulation/service, no parts required. * **Dial & Hands:** Matte white-text “feet-first” SWISS-T<25 tritium dial with rich pumpkin patina. As many state and I come to believe this is an early factory “service” dial; the original owner bought the watch exactly like this new. Purchased initially from Zales in Beaumont, TX. Hands match, zero lume loss in decades. * **Case:** Original case professionally restored after a 1980 highway fall; watchmaker receipt included. * **Bezel:** Aftermarket bezel ring with $500 faded insert now fitted. Bent original ring + vintage insert supplied loose for provenance. * **Crystal:** TrueDome acrylic (aftermarket). Spare cyclops-style acrylic included. * **Bracelet:** 93150 folded-link with one 285 end-link. * **Ownership:** Two owners from new. I am the second owner and the first owner is a friend. Only the "interchangeable" parts -- the bezel ring/insert and crystal are aftermarket. All other components are genuine Rolex as they should be.
