For sale is this vintage Seiko "08QZ", made in Japan in October of 1975. From the golden age of quartz and in very good condition for being 50 years old, the "QZ" range was amongst the first and best offerings of Seiko along with the "QT" and "QR" ranges. Quartz was a new and superior technology to mechanical movements and so were very expensive. The RRP back in 1975 for this watch was ¥50.000 which equates to over $1000 in today's money, adjusted for inflation.  This example, reference number QMX033 (08QZC), is such a unique piece with its matte chisel-textured TV dial evoking a rock face, which contrasts with the white printed elegant roman numeral indices. A sharp windowed date wheel is a welcome addition to the dial, creating some more visual interest along with function. The multifaceted case has a stunning hammered style case finishing that extends onto the original bracelet, which was all factory OEM, a finishing you won't find below $1k today. It creates a statue-esque presence. The finishing is in great condition. The over-engineered calibre 0842 movement is beautiful and is accurate to half a second per day. Single-crystal quartz (applied logo on the dial). The lightning bolt symbol on the dial and case back indicates it was made in the Seiko Daini factory (King Seiko) during their rivalry with the Suwa factory. The serial number is also a good one: 500222 Original bracelet is adjustable so will fit most wrists. Condition is great with some general wear as expected on the case and crystal. Brand new battery. Bought in Japan.
