Up for sale is the Omega Constellation Jumbo Ref. 168.001 37mm Vertical Brushed Dial for Japanese Market in good serviced condition Images: https://imgur.com/a/M2vHXg8 Video: https://imgur.com/a/6on7L37 Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/bb9UFKh When it comes to vintage Constellations, the 168.001 “Jumbo” remains one of the most underrated gems in Omega’s lineup. Originally intended for the Japanese market and select South-East Asian regions, these oversized Constellations broke away from the pie-pan tradition in favor of a clean, flat dial aesthetic. The result is a timeless, versatile watch that blends vintage character with a modern wrist presence. At 37mm in diameter, the 168.001 wears larger than most Constellations of its era, which were typically in the 34–35mm range. The stainless steel case features beautifully curved lugs and a sharp, prominent bezel, details that echo the design language of 1950s Constellations like the Ref. 14393, but on a grander scale. Lug width is 19mm, giving the watch a more substantial stance and making strap options more flexible. What truly sets this example apart is its rare vertical brushed dial. Unlike the more common starburst variations, the brushed finish gives the dial a striking texture that plays with the light in unique ways, shifting from silvery tones to deep grey or even bluish hues depending on the angle. Coupled with onyx inserts and dauphine hands, the dial achieves a look that is understated yet richly detailed. Importantly, these dials were produced without luminous material, contributing to their perfectly symmetrical and balanced design. Powering the watch is Omega’s Caliber 561, a chronometer-rated automatic movement with date complication. This 24-jewel caliber beats at 19,800 vph and features a semi-quickset date (by rolling the hands back and forth around midnight). The caseback carries the iconic gold observatory medallion, while period-correct models were often paired with Omega’s beads-of-rice bracelets (Ref. 1502 or 1037 with 19mm end-links), though this example also pairs beautifully with leather. This example remains in good condition for its age, showing minor scratches here and there and no dents. The dial is clean and crisp, the crystal is clear. Hands and indices can see some natural marks which is fitting for its age. It has been recently serviced and is keeping great time at +/-2s a day (Chronometer graded standard is +/-5s a day). The watch comes fitted on the custom vachetta leather strap. Although it doesn’t come with original box and papers, a standard watch box will be provided upon purchase. Price: $1500 + $35 flat shipping fee (via UPS/DHL). (Express shipping costs me $60-80) Payment via PayPal F&F or G&S (+4.6% fee paid by the buyer). Not accepting trades.
