For sale is this vintage Seiko "Chariot" (4120-9010), made in Japan in October 1976. The "Chariot" dress watch series by Seiko is known for their thinness, elegant design and high-quality quartz movements. This example, reference number CNC020, is absolutely stunning with its looks through simplicity. The dial is a creamy white that has an unexplainable depth akin to enamel which contrasts nicely to the black pencil hands for legibility. The seconds hand is a matte silver to differentiate between the seconds hand minutes hands. The stick baton hands are high-polish on the sides and have a black centre for attention to detail and legibility. The Seiko logo, single-crystal quartz symbol, Suwa swirl symbol and text at the bottom of the dial are in black. The Suwa swirl logo indicates that the watch was designed and manufactured by the Suwa factory during their fierce rivalry with the Daini factory.  The case is in fantastic shape with all the sheen from the factory polish still mostly intact. I think there is something respectable about getting the simple design of this fundamental wrist watch shape so right. It all comes down to the small details in the angles, bevels and the proportions. There's a very fine line between a boring design and an elegant design that this watch manages to stay firmly on the correct side of.  The calibre 4120 movement was, at the time of its release in 1974, used by Seiko to brag about creating "The World's Thinnest Quartz Watch" in advertisements. It was also the first quartz movement that was possible to produce in volumes.  The watch is in great shape considering it is almost 50 years old. As mentioned above, the case is in fantastic shape, the dial is spotless although the crystal has some light scratches. Comes on a brand-new soft and supple leather strap.
