[WTS/WTT] Omega Marine Chronometer
[WTS/WTT] Omega Marine Chronometer
WTS/WTT Omega Marine Chronometer, 1516 movement. Everyone blames Seiko for the Quartz crisis, but they only beat Omega to market by a week or so. And while Seiko chose to build a huge manufacturing capacity for them, Omega went the precision route. The Marine Chronometer was presented to the horologists at Besançon where two months of testing showed the watches had a mean variation of fewer than two thousandths of a second a day. In all, Omega made more than 7000 of these (across 1500, 1511, and 1516 calibers) with about 5800 of them going to market when they were validated as Chronometers by Besançon. If you were serious about timekeeping, you had this watch. The heads of all of the great astronomical observatories had one. Jacques Cousteau had one. Now, you can have one. It's keeping time within a minute a month. It loves electricity and I give it a new battery with every change of Daylight Savings (though it will almost make it a year.) The prior owner claimed to have had it serviced, but I have no data on that. Sized to my 6.7" wrist, there are two additional links and about an inch of micro adjust left. No box or papers, happy to send more photos or FaceTime as you like. $3500 shipped, PayPal, Venmo, or wire. For trades, I'm mostly looking for upgrades at this point, but will consider anything you're holding. Would gladly mix and match a trade of this with the AP I'm also selling for one of those dope Breguets that seem to be here all the time now, or of others in my collection if you're holding an ALS, one of the smaller 50 fathoms, or something else cool. Would also trade this and the AP for a white speedster. Here's the [timestamp](https://imgur.com/a/mTiKHYz), let me know if you have any questions or ideas.
