Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.* If the exposed mainspring barrel and Geneva-striped damaskeening of this 1905 Elgin Grade 295 don’t win you over, the porcelain-enamel dial surely will. Near flawless in condition, it features Roman numerals, a subsecond dial, and the Elgin emblem styled as an elegant scroll—subtle, refined, and unmistakably sophisticated. The 15-jewel movement, produced between 1904 and 1921, has been carefully restored and elevated: screws and hardware thermally blued by hand over an open flame, jewel settings and the gear train hand-polished to bring back their golden sheen, and the watch hands returned to brilliance with the same thermal process. We housed this piece in our 40 mm conversion case, crafted from surgical-grade 316L stainless steel. Built with both crown and caseback gaskets and tested to 50 meters of water resistance, it’s as robust as it is elegant. Fully serviced and regulated, this Elgin carries more than 120 years of American watchmaking heritage back onto the wrist.
