It keeps the core elements that define the line, while presenting them in a more straightforward, utilitarian way. This is part of the Sports Alpinist series, built around durability, legibility, and everyday use rather than visual flourish. The 40mm stainless steel case wears comfortably with balanced proportions and a thickness that stays in check. An internal rotating compass bezel, operated via the crown at 4 o’clock, remains a defining feature and a direct link to the Alpinist’s outdoor roots. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, making it well suited to regular wear without concern. The cream dial is clean and highly legible, fitted with bold Arabic numerals, syringe-style hands, and Lumibrite for low-light visibility. A date window at 3 o’clock is neatly integrated without disrupting the layout. The color choice gives the watch a softer, more classic feel while still retaining the purposeful nature of the Alpinist design. Powering the watch is Seiko’s in-house 6R15 automatic movement, offering hacking, hand-winding, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve. It’s a dependable, easy-to-service caliber designed for long-term use. The movement can be viewed through the exhibition caseback. The SARG005 is no longer in production and has become increasingly hard to find. It represents the Alpinist in a more straightforward form—functional, well-proportioned, and designed to be worn regularly rather than treated as a novelty. The watch is in excellent condition showing minor hairline scratches on the case and caseback. The crystal is clean, dial is clean and in good condition with little sign of aging. Watch comes fitted on custom leather straps. The watch has been serviced, so it’s keeping great time.
