For sale is this vintage Seiko "Type-II" (7123-8020), made in Japan in August of 1978. The Type-II series by Seiko was aimed at making a quartz series of quality that was more affordable than the QT/QR/QZ cal.38 and cal.48 series that preceded it despite most of the line being more expensive than the automatic offerings at the time. They were slimmer and more playful, often with exclusive colorways and dials. This model is a shining example of Seiko's experimentation, exhibiting a brown sunburst fumé dial with a lighter linen stripe down the centre, that I haven't seen done before or since. The markers have two levels with the higher of which is in white. Paired with the white seconds hand and white filled hands, they contrast nicely with the dial for legibility. The Seiko logo and single crystal quartz symbol are applied. The case profile is slim at 9mm and is in its original finish, wearing its age with pride. The side of the case has a mixture of polished and brushed facets. The jewel-like cut crystal further adds to the visual interest of the dial and creates some spectacular distortions.  The original worn crystal has been replaced with the same but dead stock genuine Seiko crystal to show off the beautiful dial.  The calibre 7123 movement runs great and is a wonder to look at from when quartz was all the rage, being the new technology that would transform the watch industry. The days of the week is bilingual and can be in either Japanese Kanji or English (all in black except Saturday in blue and Sunday in red). Designed and manufactured in the Daini factory during their fierce rivalry with the Suwa factory, as indicated by the lightning bolt symbol at the bottom of the dial and on the case back. Bracelet is an aftermarket "Maruman" (JDM) branded adjustable bracelet. Fits a maximum wrist size of 19cm. Dimensions are: 36mm x 41mm x 9.2mm  Lug Width 19mm Bought in Japan.
