Weiss began in 2013 with Swiss-trained watchmaker Cameron Weiss bringing his craft back to the United States. The idea was practical: build mechanical watches with more of the work happening close to home. Field watches provided the starting point, and they still give the brand its visual vocabulary—clear Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, and cases that let the dial do most of the talking.

The Standard Issue Field Watch is the collection to know first. In 38mm and 42mm versions, it pairs that straightforward face with a hand-wound movement visible through the caseback. Winding one is part of the relationship; so is turning it over to see the mechanism behind an otherwise unfussy watch.

The American Issue Field Watch takes the manufacturing story further, incorporating movement components machined in the United States. That distinction matters at Weiss: the interest is not simply in putting an American name on a dial, but in rebuilding the capability to make what sits beneath it.
