Tom Ford brought the same attention to proportion and texture to watches that had shaped his clothing and accessories. The American label, founded in 2005, entered watchmaking in 2018 with the 001: a Swiss-made quartz watch whose rectangular case and restrained dial put the emphasis on silhouette. It was a dress watch with a distinctly wardrobe-minded approach.

The defining detail is the strap system. Rather than treating the strap as a permanent fixture, the 001 allows it to pass through the case and be exchanged without tools. Leather choices change the watch’s character considerably, while the curved case keeps that elongated shape from feeling too severe. The later 002 takes the design language into a round case.

Introduced in 2020, the Ocean Plastic watch gives that round format a different material vocabulary. Recycled ocean plastic forms the case, paired with a woven strap made from the same source material. Its matte surfaces and spare dial move away from polished dress-watch conventions without abandoning Ford’s preference for clean, deliberate shapes.
