The TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 17 gives you the square case and two-register dial without quite the wrist presence of later, larger Monacos. Its right-hand crown also distinguishes it from the original 1969 layout: this is the Monaco’s revival-era interpretation, not a straight reproduction.

The 1997 CS2110 is the reference to know if you like the restrained early revival, with a black dial and Heuer-only branding. For the more familiar blue dial with contrasting pale registers, look to CW2113. Inside, Calibre 17 uses an ETA-based modular chronograph rather than the original Monaco’s movement architecture. When handling one, run the chronograph through start, stop and reset, paying attention to whether both chronograph hands return cleanly to zero. The square case deserves a try-on, too: its corners give this nominally modest watch more presence than a round case of the same width.
