The TAG Heuer Link is easiest to recognize by its bracelet: paired, S-shaped links that give it a flowing profile quite unlike a conventional three-link design. That bracelet connects decades of quartz and mechanical watches, from sportier, bezel-led generations to later designs with cleaner dials and more sculpted cases.

The family grew out of the S/el, introduced in 1987, and took the Link name in 1999. Earlier Links often have numbered bezels and rounded case outlines; later generations sharpened the bracelet’s surfaces and moved toward smoother bezels and a cushion-like silhouette. Three-hand quartz references such as WJ1110 belong to a different chapter from the later automatic models, even though the bracelet makes their relationship immediately clear.

The movement distinctions matter as much as the styling. The Link Calibre 6 uses small seconds, while the Link Calibre 16 is an automatic chronograph. The Link Calibre S takes another route, using an electromechanical chronograph system rather than a conventional mechanical caliber. A broader Link Chronograph designation can also encompass quartz models, so the family name alone doesn’t establish what is ticking underneath.
