This Marinemaster takes Seiko’s professional-diver name in a slimmer, more restrained direction than the burly Marinemaster 300 many collectors know. The horizontally textured dial gives it a character of its own, while the case and handset draw on Seiko’s first dive watch from 1965 without turning this into a straight reissue.

The distinction matters when choosing one: this is the modern Marinemaster built around the compact 6L37, with an exhibition back rather than the older 300’s closed, monobloc construction. Among the launch references, the blue-dial SJE099 makes the texture especially noticeable; the black-dial SJE101 is the quieter choice. Pay attention to the small date window tucked between four and five—it keeps the main hour markers intact, but its unobtrusive placement won’t suit everyone who wants a readily readable date.
