The Seiko Giugiaro puts its chronograph pushers in a rectangular extension on the right of the case—a piece of industrial design that looks unlike almost anything else on the wrist. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the original became a watch-world film favorite when Ellen Ripley wore it in Aliens.

The 2015 reissues, including SCED035 and SCED037, offer that distinctive silhouette without taking you into vintage electronics. The original used Seiko’s pioneering 7A28 analog quartz chronograph movement; the reissues are reinterpretations rather than exact reproductions. Choose them for the shape, but spend a moment considering how that projecting pusher block will sit on your wrist. Test both chronograph controls and make sure the hands return cleanly to zero. The sculpted bracelet is part of the design, too: having enough of its specific links matters more here than on a watch that readily accepts an ordinary strap.
