The Seiko 6106 is better understood as a family than a single design: its automatic caliber powered everything from restrained everyday watches to more adventurous Seiko 5 Sports models. That breadth is part of the pleasure—late-1960s and early-1970s Seiko offered plenty of personality without abandoning the practical business of telling the time and date.

Choose the dial and case style first, then pay attention to the movement generation. The later 6106C offers quick correction of both calendar displays through the push-in crown, a useful distinction from earlier versions. Test that action gently, with the hands clear of the calendar-change period; reluctant operation deserves investigation, not extra pressure.
