Explore Roger Dubuis

Roger Dubuis began in 1995, founded by watchmaker Roger Dubuis and designer Carlos Dias. The early watches had a dressier character than today’s openworked machines: Hommage paired classical forms with expressive dials, while Sympathie introduced an unusually shaped case, its curved sides interrupted by sharply defined corners. Even then, restraint wasn’t quite the point.

The arrival of Excalibur in 2005 gave the brand its most recognizable vocabulary: a deeply notched bezel, bold Roman numerals, and distinctive triple lugs. Later skeleton versions pushed the movement into the foreground, using star-shaped bridges and expanses of empty space to make the mechanics part of the dial. Tourbillons fit naturally into that architecture, rather than looking like additions to it.

There’s serious traditional workmanship beneath those theatrical shapes. Movements bearing the Geneva Seal bring exacting finishing standards to watches that look anything but conventional. Alongside Excalibur, the angular Hyper Horology creations explore an even more experimental side, while earlier Hommage pieces offer a quieter route into the watchmaker’s world.
