Ressence emerged from Belgium in 2010, later establishing its manufacturing base in Switzerland. The brand’s founder, industrial designer Benoît Mintiens, set out to rethink how time is displayed, resulting in watches like the Type 3 that blur the line between traditional horology and contemporary design. Ressence’s approach is defined by a fascination with legibility, tactile interaction, and the visual intrigue of constantly moving indications.

Instead of conventional hands, Ressence watches use a patented system of rotating discs—called the ROCS (Ressence Orbital Convex System)—that orbit within the dial.
