The Longines Flagship began in 1957 as a dress-watch family, and its thread is still easy to follow: restrained dials, neatly drawn markers, and cases that sit comfortably beneath a cuff. The name spans vintage hand-wound and automatic watches as well as later quartz and automatic models, so two Flagships can share a sensibility without sharing dimensions or mechanics.

Early examples often have slim baton markers and gently domed dials; the sailing-ship motif found on many casebacks gives the family a more literal signature. Steel and gold cases, date and no-date layouts, and successive movement generations make the vintage range particularly varied. Later everyday Flagships tend toward a more formal presentation, with Roman numerals or applied baton markers and, commonly, a date window at three.

The Flagship Heritage takes a different route, drawing more directly on the early watches and placing its date at six. The Flagship Heritage Moonphase adds a moon display and pointer date in a subdial at six, while the Flagship Chronograph brings elapsed-time counters into the family’s otherwise quieter dial vocabulary.
