The Longines Conquest name has covered everything from restrained mid-century dress watches to sturdy sports watches with prominent crown guards. What ties them together is a taste for practical everyday watchmaking, though a vintage Conquest and a current one speak quite different design languages.

Introduced in 1954, the family’s early watches paired clean dials and applied markers with cases that look notably modest beside later generations. Many more recent, pre-2023 models are easy to recognize by their bold Arabic 12 and 6, substantial crown protection, and a mixture of polished and brushed surfaces. Both quartz and automatic movements appear under the Conquest name, so that familiar dial layout does not identify the movement by itself.

The redesign introduced in 2023 takes a quieter approach: slimmer baton markers replace the large numerals, and the case loses the conspicuous crown guards. Modern automatics use the L888 caliber family, with sizes extending beyond the initial 41mm release. Names such as Conquest VHP, Conquest Classic, and Conquest Chronograph identify distinct branches, rather than interchangeable descriptions of the same watch.
