Explore Kurono

Kurono brings Hajime Asaoka’s eye for proportion and dial design into a different register from his handmade independent watches. Established in Japan in 2019, the brand pairs mechanical movements with designs shaped by Asaoka’s taste for Art Deco. You can see that sensibility in the slender hands, carefully spaced numerals and concentric dial details: small decisions that give these watches their distinctive rhythm.

The three-hand watches are the clearest expression of that approach, often housed in compact 37mm cases. Dial color does much of the storytelling. The anniversary Mori takes its character from deep green, while Toki moves toward a warmer, coppery coral. Neither needs an elaborate case to make its presence felt; the polished surfaces and restrained dimensions keep attention on the dial.

The Chronograph 1 and Chronograph 2 introduce busier compositions, with contrasting registers and scales that reward a closer look. The Grand Akane explores another direction entirely, using a lacquer dial whose reddish tones shift with the light.
