Explore Kobold
Kobold brought an American accent to the mechanical tool watch in 1998. Founded by Michael Kobold, the company built its identity around practical watches for demanding use, with divers and chronographs at the center of the range. Substantial steel cases, broad luminous hands, and clearly divided dials give many Kobolds a family resemblance: purposeful rather than ornamental, with enough visual weight to match their physical presence.
The Seal is the clearest expression of that approach, pairing a generous case with a remarkably spare dial and a prominent rotating bezel. The Soarway Diver offers another route into Kobold’s diving watches, keeping legibility and straightforward operation in the foreground. These are designs in which the hands and markers do much of the talking.
For a busier dial, the Polar Surveyor combines chronograph functions with an additional time-zone display. Kobold’s story also includes efforts to move assembly and case production to the United States—a distinction worth separating from the Swiss movements powering many of its watches.
