Jean Richard’s modern watches have a shape you can spot across a room: a broad, cushion-shaped case surrounding a round bezel, with short lugs that keep the outline compact. There’s something pleasingly architectural about that combination, especially in the Terrascope, where brushed surfaces, substantial hour markers and a straightforward dial give the design room to breathe. It’s a sports watch with its own proportions, rather than another variation on a familiar template.

The Swiss name reaches back to 1681, though the watches most enthusiasts encounter belong to its much later chapter alongside Girard-Perregaux in the Sowind group. The 1681 collection connects those chapters through the manufacture-developed automatic JR1000 caliber, pairing a more restrained dial treatment with the brand’s characteristic case geometry.

The other collections take that geometry in different directions. The Aquascope adds a rotating dive bezel and stronger aquatic cues; the titanium Aeroscope brings chronograph registers and aviation-minded detailing. Both retain the broad stance that makes the simpler Terrascope so recognizable.
