The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph pairs a diver’s elapsed-time bezel with a stopwatch, but its character changes noticeably from one generation to the next. The most useful dividing line is the bezel: earlier versions keep the timing ring beneath the crystal, the 3767 moves it outside, and the 3768 links an external control to an internal ring.

The 3719 generation has a 42mm case and a separate crown for its internal diving bezel, giving it a different silhouette from its larger successors. The 44mm 3767 is easy to distinguish by its broad external bezel with a sapphire-glass insert. With the 3768, IWC introduced the SafeDive system: turning the outer bezel adjusts the protected inner timing ring, which advances only counterclockwise.

Special editions bring material differences as well as dial treatments. The Expedition Charles Darwin uses bronze and IWC’s in-house 89365 flyback chronograph caliber, while Galapagos versions are recognizable for their black rubber-coated steel cases. These sit alongside more conventional steel chronographs, so the family name alone leaves quite a bit unresolved about both the watch’s construction and its chronograph architecture.

Aquatimer Chronograph Reference Prices
$3,189 – $5,466 spread of reference medians

Each price is the median ask from one reference's own listings, and a reference needs at least five to get one. Listings that don't name a reference are left out, and nothing is blended into a family price.
