Hermès brings an equestrian eye to watch design: look at the stirrup-shaped, asymmetrical lugs of the Arceau, or the way its sloping numerals seem to lean into a gallop. Its Swiss watchmaking operation was established in 1978, but the watches speak the same visual language as the house’s leather goods—supple curves, considered proportions, and details that reward a second look.

The Cape Cod, introduced in 1991, sets a rectangular dial inside a case shaped from two opposing anchor-chain links. Paired with a double-tour strap, it becomes unmistakably Hermès without needing much dial furniture. The Slim d’Hermès, launched in 2015, takes another route: spare typography, slender proportions, and, in its automatic version, the micro-rotor H1950 caliber.

There’s a playful mechanical streak, too. The Arceau Le Temps Suspendu lets you pause the displayed time while the movement keeps counting underneath. For something more overtly sporting, the H08, introduced in 2021, combines a softened square case with a circular dial and numerals drawn specifically for it.
