Explore Helgray
Helgray takes familiar watchmaking forms—field watches, pilot’s watches, racing chronographs—and gives them a clean, graphic treatment. Founded in Canada in 2014, the brand emerged through crowdfunding, with an emphasis on quartz-powered designs. Its watches tend to make their impression through dial layout and contrasting colors rather than elaborate casework: clear markers, purposeful hands, and enough breathing room to keep the display readable.
The Silverstone is a useful place to start. Its twin-register dial draws on vintage motorsport chronographs, with contrasting subdials and a tachymeter scale supplying the visual vocabulary. Inside, the Seiko VK64 meca-quartz caliber pairs quartz-regulated timekeeping with a mechanically actuated chronograph mechanism. That distinction matters at the pushers, where the operation has a more tactile character than a conventional quartz stopwatch.
Helgray’s field and aviation-inspired designs show another side of the same approach. Numerals and minute tracks take precedence over decoration. Against those restrained layouts, the Silverstone feels distinctly more playful, giving the brand room to experiment with color without abandoning legibility.
