Hamilton’s Intra-Matic family spans restrained, baton-dial automatics and two-register chronographs with sharply contrasting counters—two quite different ways to wear mid-century design. The shared language is clean typography, domed crystals, and dials that give their details room to breathe, rather than a single case size or movement.

The modern three-hand Intra-Matic Automatic keeps closest to the dress-watch character of the 1960s originals: slender hands, applied markers, and a date at six. Offered in 38mm and 42mm cases, these versions have a notably different presence despite their similar layouts. Their uncluttered faces also make them easy to distinguish from the chronographs, whose pump pushers and paired counters change both the silhouette and the rhythm of the dial.

Among the chronographs, the 42mm Intra-Matic ’68 preceded the 40mm automatic models powered by H-31, with a date tucked below the counters. The hand-wound Intra-Matic Chronograph H takes another route: its H-51 movement dispenses with the date, leaving a more spare dial. That distinction matters more than the shared family name when separating the chronograph generations.
