Seventies

The Glashütte Original Seventies brings a distinctly German mechanical sensibility to the rounded-square sports watch: broad dial space, softened corners, and the brand’s two-disc Panorama Date. Its character stays recognizable across the family, but the three-hand models and flyback chronographs offer quite different experiences on the wrist.

Introduced in 2011, the Seventies Panorama Date established the design with a relatively spare dial, applied markers, and the large date at six o’clock. Its automatic Caliber 39-47 belongs to an earlier movement generation than the chronograph’s. The bracelet’s close fit to the case reinforces the flowing outline, while versions on straps give that same rounded-square architecture more visual separation.

The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date followed in 2014 with the automatic Caliber 37-02, adding a flyback mechanism and a 70-hour power reserve. Look for the chronograph pushers and the distinctive elapsed-hours display beneath twelve, rather than a conventional third subdial. Dial treatments have evolved through restrained finishes and brighter colors, so the movement and display layout are more useful generation markers than color alone.
