Explore Clerc
Clerc makes watches that look engineered from the outside in. The broad, angular cases, prominent bezel controls, and articulated lugs give its divers a distinctly mechanical presence, far removed from the usual round-case formula. The Swiss company dates to 1874, but its modern identity is built around the Hydroscaph: a family of substantial diving watches with an unusually architectural approach to case construction.
The Hydroscaph H1 is the straightforward expression of that idea, pairing an automatic movement with a three-hand display and date. Its locking rotating bezel is a defining detail, making the setting mechanism part of the watch’s visual character rather than hiding it. Articulated lugs help the broad case follow the wrist; the engineering isn’t confined to what happens beneath the dial.
The Hydroscaph Central Chronograph takes a different route through the same design language. Centrally mounted chronograph seconds and minutes put elapsed time on the main dial, where it can be read directly, rather than relegating both indications to small subsidiary counters.
