Explore Bovet
Bovet’s pocket-watch past is easy to spot: the crown at twelve, the bow above it, the elaborate decoration beneath the crystal. Founded in 1822, the Swiss house built its reputation supplying watches to China, where finely painted enamel scenes and richly decorated movements found an appreciative audience. That decorative instinct remains central.
The Fleurier collection carries the pocket-watch silhouette onto the wrist, often framing openworked movements with curved bridges and generous engraving. Bovet’s Amadeo convertible case system takes the connection further, allowing compatible watches to become pocket watches or miniature table clocks without tools. The hand-wound 19Thirty, with its seven-day power reserve, offers a comparatively restrained route into this distinctive design language.
For a different case architecture, look to Dimier, with conventional lugs and a crown at three. Its Récital watches give Bovet room to explore inclined movement layouts, tourbillons and astronomical displays. On these more elaborate pieces, reading the dial can feel like studying a small mechanical landscape, with indications arranged at different heights rather than flattened onto one plane.
