Explore Anordain

Scotland’s anOrdain brings a workshop sensibility to watchmaking: designers, enamellers and watchmakers working together in Glasgow, with the dial at the centre of the project. Its recognisable combination is vitreous enamel, restrained cases and unusually thoughtful typography. The numerals draw on lettering from old cartographic maps, giving these watches a character that feels considered rather than borrowed from another watchmaker’s catalogue.

The Model 1 is the clearest expression of that approach. Its spare layout gives the enamel room to breathe, revealing depth and subtle variations as the light changes. Making those dials involves repeated firings, with considerable scope for things to go wrong. The fumé versions take a different route visually: translucent enamel over a textured silver base produces a luminous centre and darker edges.

The Model 2 brings the same craft into a more compact, field-watch-minded design, with bolder markings and a sturdier presence. It’s the more utilitarian-looking sibling, though the enamel keeps it well away from ordinary instrument-watch territory.
