Manufacturing of Elgin watches took place at their facility in Elgin, Illinois.* This Elgin has a variation of the classic railroad dial featuring oversized Arabic numerals, earning it the nickname “Blind Man Railroad Dial.” The design wasn’t just aesthetic—it was also practical. The larger numerals offered unmatched legibility for railroad workers relying on precision timing in any light or weather. The porcelain-enamel surface remains remarkably preserved, framed by red minute markers and a recessed sub-seconds register. Simple, functional, and balanced. Under the hood is Elgin’s Grade 295 movement, a 15-jewel caliber completed in 1905 and fully restored in our Little Rock workshop. The plates display brilliant damaskeening (Geneva stripes) and hand-applied thermal bluing on every screw and piece of hardware. Each jewel setting, gear, and balance component was individually polished to restore its golden sheen, ensuring the movement performs and presents as beautifully as it did over a century ago. Housed in our 40 mm stainless steel case, this 1905 Elgin is ready for a new wrist.
