I'm really excited to list this gem I acquired in October 2023 for my personal collection. Alas, a chronograph has caught my eye, so it's time to make some room. This rare, all original Bulova from 1980 is quite the anomaly from the Bulova catalog. It's not a Super Seville (known for their 1980s Rolex Day/Date vibes) or an Oceanographer (the poor man's Datejust). This 12093 reference sits somewhere in the middle, and ticks every single box a 1980s Datejust ticks. I love that is a date only, with the proportions of a Datejust. Also, check out the razor sharp lugs, with brushed tops and polished sides. Such a dapper piece of steel. Pair it with a suit, or wear it down with jeans. It's timeless. So, if you're into the look of those classic Super Sevilles, but don't want that DAY with the DATE, this may be for you. The watch is signed on the dial (beautiful, applied Bulova wordmark) case back, inner case back, movement, original crown, and on the original bracelet as well. As you can see from the pics of my receipts, I had this watch completely overhauled by Andy from Ultra Vintage Watches. Total cost (not counting a small fix to an Omega that was on the same bill) was $436. This included a full, disassembling and cleaning of the movement, lubrication, regulation, new gaskets (including for the screw down crown) and cleaning of the dial. The Bracelet(s): I'm including two bracelets with this sale. Here's the lowdown: 1) The original, signed (with the Bulova Tuning Fork) 20 mm Bulova, all steel jubilee Bracelet with end links 2) An aftermarket, all steel jubilee Bracelet that is currently on the watch. Some fine print about the bracelet: after a full cleaning of the original bracelet, I opted to wear it with the new, aftermarket bracelet so I could keep the original intact. However, I love the perfect fit of the original end links, so I kept the original end links on the aftermarket bracelet. Both bracelets, with both sets of end links, will be included here. I have included a screenshot of the aftermarket bracelet. The Movement: The workhorse Bulova 11AOACD (23 jewels), is ticking and keeping great time. I put lots of time into ensuring that I've captured each corner for the watch, even in different light angles, so you can see it in all its glory. This watch has been worn less than 40 times since purchased in October 2023. The watch is UNPOLISHED! Please see pics, as there are scratches to the body commiserate with the age of a 45 year old watch. However, no scratches are deep, or otherwise deter the eye from those sharp lugs or stunning dial, or regal, fluted steel bezel. The dial does have the slightest, semicircle scratch between 1 and 2, with the tiniest bit of age along the top of the chronometer. Otherwise, I think this is a pretty clean and awesome all-original dial. I have shared pics marked up to bring explicit attention to the mark on the dial. The stick hands have no wear, and look just as they did in 1980. The watch is working perfectly as I've observed over the last week. However, for absolute assurance that it will continue to do so, I always recommend a trip to your watchmaker (and I highly recommend Ultra Vintage Watches) for peace of mind. Because this is a 45yo watch, I can never fully guarantee, with 100% certainty that any watch will continue to work - - as I am not a trained professional.
